You enter your apartment directly into a hall with an inbuilt wardrobe/ cupboard, a WC and the meter cupboard, doors to the living and dining rooms and the stairs to the third floor.
The front room overlooks the canal and the Scheepvaarthuis (now 5 star Hotel Amrath). There are three windows over the entire width of the front facade which bring in ample light and offer spectacular views to the Oosterdok or down the canal to the Montelbaanstoren. The room features a fireplace.
An en-suite cupboard with sliding panel doors connects the front room with the dining room and kitchen. The dining room has two windows and a set of opening doors to the roof terrace adjacent the open plan kitchen.
Oak herringbone parket flooring runs in the two en-suite rooms. The kitchen has a natural stone floor.
The roof terrace is situated on the roof above the corridor that connects the front and rear parts of this traditional house. The sloping roof of the rear part of the house meets the roof terrace. Patio’s and courtyards from the neighbouring properties make it an open space in the middel of the city centre. In the afternoon the sun comes around to warm this special, quiet oasis.
The stairs from the hall bring you to the landing on the third floor. Two bedrooms are located on either side of the bathroom. The bathroom has its own skylight, features a bath and a shower, a WC, a sink and a washing machine.
The front bed room is large and has ample space. The dormer window in the centre of the front facade overlooks the canal at tree top level and offers views of the sky. Kromme Waal 21 is only 8 minutes walking distance from the Central Station and can be easily reached from the larger routes by car. Having said this, the particular road, Kromme Waal, is not a main thorough fare, on the contrary, it is quiet and not frequented as you might expect for a location so central in the city.
The building is listed by the municipality, it is a ‘Gemeentelijk monument’. It is situated in the area that is a listed or protected city view, and part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
